DIGITAL IMMEDIATE POSTERIORS FROM A to Z

by Dimitris Kolovos, DDS, MSc Prosthodontics

TIME: 15 May 2024 kell 17:00-20:00
LOCATION: ONLINE
COURSE TYPE: 1,5h lecture + 1,5h practical hands-on on models
PRICE: free

We are pleased to invite you to MINEC Study Club  "DIGITAL IMMEDIATE POSTERIORS FROM A to Z". The invitation-only workshop will take place on May 15th from 17:00–20:00.

 TOPIC

The training focuses on immediate implantation in the molar region using guided surgery. While the success probability of immediate implantation in the posterior teeth area has been a debatable topic for years, it has now been scientifically proven that the success rate of immediate wide (5.5+) implants is 97.3% after 6 years of the final crown placement, making it an absolutely justified treatment method.

During the training, you will gain knowledge on how to successfully apply immediate implantation in the molar region and thereby achieve several advantages over the 2-stage approach, including:

  • preservation of bone and soft tissue volume,

  • better emergence profile,

  • less trauma,

  • lower costs,

  • shorter treatment time.

We will learn how to solve various situations, including how to successfully place an implant immediately when there is no interdental septum and/or it is impossible to stabilize the implant apically due to the sinus.

 FORMAT

The evening consists of a 1.5-hour lecture followed by a 1.5-hour practical workshop on models. The models are specially prepared by Dr. Kolovos to practice immediate implantation in three different situations (wide septum, thin septum, no septum).

 REGISTRATION

The number of participants is limited to 18 participants. The training is free for you, but as the number of spots is limited, please respond as soon as possible (if possible, please register now here).

BONE & TISSUE MASTERCLASS

by Prof. Howard Gluckmann

Lecture 1:

The Symbiotic relationship between bone and soft tissue

Bone and soft tissue loss are a reality in implantology. Most cases require some form of tissue graft or another and there are very few that have the requisite structure in place for ideal treatment outcomes. Long term aesthetic stability and health of an implant is dependent on both bone and soft tissue. The symbiotic relationship between the two is crucial for long term success. This lecture series will go through the different protocols and share insight into achieving predictable results with both bone and soft tissue grafting. We will share hints and tips accumulated over years if practice including failures and successes with different treatment options.

Lecture 2:

Partial Extraction therapies

The loss of teeth will lead to resorbtion of the buccal plate with its resultant need for extensive augmentative procedures (both bone and soft tissue) as well as the risk of poor long term aesthetic stability. Partial Extraction Therapies (PET) are techniques that allow us to maintain the buccal bone plate and hence prevent the collapse of the alveolar bone creating a platform for ideal soft tissue and bone which is stable in the long term. This is a greater problem in the aesthetic areas. This lecture will take you through the different options with regards to immediate implant placement as well as the most cutting edge PET in a step by step fashion.

Lecture 3:

The management of single implant sites in the aesthetic zone from preservation to rehabilitation

The aesthetic zone presents several very specific problems which are exacerbated following tooth loss. The loss of bone and soft issues, as well as the natural gingival contour, makes replacing the teeth with implants a huge challenge. The attention to detail regarding new bone growth followed by soft tissue grafting and prosthetic soft tissue development are key to achieving an excellent aesthetic result that is stable over the long term. There are a number of key parameters that need to be followed to achieve the predictability of our results. The decision-making tree is paramount and differs from patient to patient, and all of these factors will be brought together in an algorithm that allows one to choose the best treatment option for the patient. From Digital Smile design to choose of bone graft material to timing of soft tissue surgery. The lecture will share more than 25 years of failure and success, but with a constant striving for improvement and excellence.

Professor Howard Gluckman training trip to South Africa

GO SOMEWHERE, DIFFERENT.

Training trip will happening on spring.

More information coming soon.

Implant & Aesthetic Academy has put together an exciting week in South Africa that combines both Kruger and Cape Town for a truly memorable safari.

We can’t imagine a more perfect backdrop for an exciting week of learning and networking. A week of iconic Big 5 safari, luxury, food and wine. It's an experience we think you’ll never forget.

Experience the Kruger National Park like never before aboard a train on a bridge, with breath-taking views of all the animals below. This is one of the newest and most innovative luxury lodges in Kruger. Welcome to Kruger Shalati - the train on the bridge, offering a spa, 3 swimming pools, game drives, and a unique bar in the old station. The refurbished train is permanently stationed on the historically rich Shalati Bridge.

For a cost-effective yet undeniably cool hotel experience, complete with its own rooftop bar, we have chosen Radisson Red in the heart of Cape Town's vibrant Waterfront.

Program

1 DAY

After clearing customs and immigration at Johannesburg's OR Tambo airport, connect to your short flight to Skukuza Airport and your new home in the bush, Kruger Shalati. In the late afternoon, head out on our first exciting game drive.

2 DAY

Safaris have a rhythm to them. You'll be up before the sun each morning for the best game viewing. After a strong coffee, you're off on a game drive. And when the day starts to heat up, you'll head back to camp.

3 DAY

Enjoy the experience of trying to track your favorites down – that's the best part. Just don't expect to find them. That way, when you do, it'll be even more special. After your morning game drive and breakfast, begin your second day of lectures by Professor Howard Gluckman.

4 DAY

Welcome to Cape Town! In the early evening, you'll be transferred to the boutique wine estate, High Constantia, for an exclusive Wine & Dine Constantia evening of wine tasting and food hosted by winemaker David van Niekerk. With a viticultural history dating back to the Dutch settlers of the 1600s, the Cape Winelands is one of South Africa's most famous regions.

5 DAY

With its rich heritage, trendy urban vibe, fine wining and dining, and staggering natural beauty, Cape Town is the perfect ending to any safari. Catch the morning shuttle to The Implant & Aesthetic Academy, for a hands-on workshop led by Professor Howard Gluckman. Dinner at leisure tonight, check out the rooftop bar at Radisson Red for a simple poolside meal with a spectacular view of the city and V&A Waterfront.

6 DAY

After breakfast today, catch the morning shuttle to The Implant & Aesthetic Academy, for a hands-on workshop led by Professor Howard Gluckman. Dinner at leisure tonight. Why not venture into the V&A Waterfront on foot for a delicious meal this evening. Thanks to its easy-going Mediterranean climate and gastronomic reputation, Cape Town enjoys a tongue-in-cheek status as Europe's southernmost city isn't unfair. But infuse that with Cape Malay flavor influences, some of the world's very best new world wines, and an army of internationally acclaimed culinary geniuses, and it becomes an African foodie paradise. Overnight Radisson Red.

7 DAY

Today you bid farewell to the mother city unless you are exploring Southern Africa in greater detail.

TOTAL FIT WORKFLOWS - Prof. Vygandas Rutkunas

MAXIMIZING EFFECTIVENESS OF IMPLANT SURGERY AND PROSTHODONTICS – TOTAL FIT WORKFLOWS

PROF. VYHANDAS RUTKUNAS

April 26-27

Course Description:

More and more digital tools are being used for separate clinical procedures. The accuracy of separate techniques is often investigated, but the information is missing on how to effectively employ all different tools and techniques into one united workflow.. When it comes to the “fit” of the restorations, mainly the “passive-fit” is being considered. However, clinically many criteria for the fit in a broader sense become important: internal and marginal, proximal and occlusal contact, emergence contour, and many other types of fit. Due to various types of misfits, the effectiveness of the treatment is decreased. It is also important to emphasize the importance of the selection of the prosthetic components and laboratory procedures. Different laboratory strategies for the working model fabrication should be selected: model-free, 3D printed, or plaster control models. Material selection could also play a pivotal role in minimizing the level of technical complications and increasing biocompatibility.

Therefore, there is a need to organize digital and analogue techniques into simplified algorithms that would allow practitioners to minimize the rate of technical and biological complications and increase the efficiency of the treatment. By satisfying multiple criteria for the different types of fits, the “Total Fit Workflows” (TFW) is organized into 6 distinct procedures employing different techniques. TFW unites different digital and analogue techniques to simplify the treatment and increase its reliability, control the error propagation, allow logic selection of the prosthetic components, coordinate better clinical and laboratory procedures, allow more objective evaluation the misfits, help to manage the most common complications and provide tools for further improvement of treatment efficiency.

Densah drills are ideal for two indications:

  1. Increase implant primary stability with every implantation and any system

  2. Safe and simple crestal Sinus Lift

All participants will learn:

  • Bone condensation in a simple and consistant way.

  • Predictable crestal sinus lift with fewer complications.

  • Ridge expansion with osseodensification.

  • New knowledge on how to preserve bone by expanding and improving bone density instead of removing bone with drilling.

  • You will learn how to affect the primary stability of an implant through immediate implantation.

With proven success rates of over 99% and no need for traditional collagen membranes, Alloplastic materials are a significant step forward for both clinicians and patients undergoing bone grafting procedures.  A mixture of B-TCP and Calcium Sulphate, the material offers a wide range of benefits.

During this event, Dr Stuart Kilner will discuss working with host healing and how we can optimise it using Alloplastic materials with a particular focus on the relatively simple surgical techniques and mindset needed to achieve optimal outcomes. This will include an extensive selection of documented case studies from the speaker’s own personal experience.

These concepts originate from medical fields where there is extensive research in the importance of returning the host tissue back to its original state.

Learning Points for the presentation will include:

  • Why “True Host Bone Regeneration”? Overview of research and personal experiences

  • Graft material selection – how to choose?

  • Removing the traditional collagen membrane

  • Applying Alloplastic materials to a wide variety of clinical situations, including numerous long-term case studies from the speaker and several new cases

There are obvious reasons, why immediate implants should be a common-day practise. Yet, this treatment modality is often demonised and avoided.

Clear advantages of immediate implants include:

  1. maintaining of pre-extraction soft tissue architecture

  2. tooth-like soft tissue profile

  3. less functional problems in posterior implants

  4. more aesthetic result in anterior region 5

  5. faster treatment for patients and dentist

True bone regeneration – What the body needs.

True bone regeneration – What the body needs. Translating biology into successful implant dentistry.

In modern Dental Implantology, like in Orthopedics and Regenerative Medicine, our aim is to restore the form and function of the lost bone, so that we can give back to our patients exactly the same tissue, a healthy bone tissue which can remodel and adapt to the transmitting occlusal forces. Only the host can regenerate bone so especially in the aesthetic zone we need to work with and up-regulate this host healing for optimal long-term outcomes
